The people behind HexaEight

A question from one founder. Two years of building by the other. A patent filed before the world knew it needed the answer.

"Can I log in to multiple sites using a single password?"

That question sparked two years of cryptographic research. Latha has been instrumental in building and sustaining HexaEight from the ground up, from the earliest prototype to the platform it is today.

"I've been a Terminator fan my whole life. One question always stayed with me. When machines start communicating autonomously, how will they identify each other? When I saw ChatGPT, I thought: they've arrived. I had already spent two years building the answer."

The journey
Early 2020
Dead Drop Encryption designed from scratch
Latha's question drives two years of research. Sriram designs the core model during COVID lockdown: asymmetric communication, no PKI, each party holds only their own password.
16 July 2021
Patent filed in India
Applicant: Sriram Shankarlingam · Field: Communication. Published January 2023.
2021 to 2022
Launched as a traditional auth platform
HexaEight shipped as a developer authentication platform: QR-based login, API protection, 2FA. The encryption was the same. The market wasn't ready to see it for what it was.
November 2022
ChatGPT arrives. The redesign begins.
The world discovers AI agents. The algorithm is rebuilt around SHAKE-256: post-quantum secure, purpose-built for machine-to-machine communication at scale.
Post-2022
SHAKE-256: ~1024-bit post-quantum security
Algorithm rebuilt with SHAKE-256 (NIST FIPS 202). Four times NIST Post-Quantum Security Level 5. The same core insight, now quantum-safe.
2026
Preprint forthcoming on IACR ePrint + arXiv
Full cryptographic specification with formal IND-CPA and IND-CCA2 security proofs, cross-posted to IACR ePrint and arXiv cs.CR for the global cryptographic community.
What we believe

We believe that in the near future, humans, machines and programs will have the capability to identify each other using their digital identity tokens, and we are building the platform that can power this future.

We believed this before it was obvious. We still do.
